Our Approach

How Wandering Worlds Works With ClientsUnderline

Editing and formatting shouldn’t feel like you’re handing over your baby and hoping for the best. We want to work with you, not just on your book. That’s why we offer a personalized and supportive experience, guiding you through every step of the process with transparency and care.

We approach every project with four core principles:

  • Transparency: We’re open and honest about our capabilities, pricing, timelines, and process. Our contracts are simple and easy to understand, and there are no hidden fees or unexpected costs. Plus, if we can’t meet your specific needs, we’ll let you know upfront and recommend other professionals.
  • Collaboration Over Correction: We see editing and formatting as a partnership, not a one-sided process. We’ll explain our suggestions clearly, actively listen to your feedback, and work together to refine your manuscript.
  • A Reader-First Mindset: While we’re here to serve you as the author, we also keep your readers in mind at every step. Does your story flow seamlessly? Will readers connect with your characters? Is the pacing engaging? We help you find the sweet spot between your voice and what will truly connect with your readers.
  • Quality Without Compromise: We’re dedicated to delivering the highest quality work on every project, no matter the length, complexity, or budget.

1. Tell us about your project

Start by filling out our contact form. Tell us a bit about your book: its title, genre, length, and any specific editing or formatting needs you have. Within 24 business hours, we’ll review your request and get back to you with a personalized quote. This quote will include the estimated project timeline and a detailed breakdown of services. We’ll also address any questions you have about the process and our services.

Want to see first how we can help polish your prose? Send us a sample chapter or a few pages of your manuscript. We’ll return it to you within 3 business days with our edits and a brief explanation of the changes we’ve made.

2. Make it official

Once you’re happy with the quote, we’ll send over a simple contract. This contract will outline the following:

  • Scope of work: Specific editing and formatting services (e.g., manuscript critique, line editing, cover design, ebook formatting).
  • Project timeline: Firm deadlines for each stage (e.g., editing completion, formatting completion, final delivery).
  • Payment terms: Flexible options, including installment plans.
  • Revision policy: Number of revisions included and the timeframe.
  • Copyright protection: Confirmation of your copyright ownership and our commitment to using your work solely for the agreed-upon services.
  • AI policy: Statement confirming our commitment to not using AI in the editing process.

3. Enjoy our expertise

After you’ve signed the contract and made your first payment, your editor will start reviewing your manuscript. For formatting, we usually start after the editing is finished, but we can also work on it alongside the edits if that makes more sense for your project.

Keep in mind that timelines can vary depending on the length and complexity of your manuscript. However, we’re always available to answer your questions via email. In addition, clients of our developmental editing service can schedule a brief call with their editor to discuss their manuscript in more depth.

4. Final touches and delivery

Once the editing and formatting are complete, you’ll receive your final manuscript in the agreed-upon formats (e.g., Word document, PDF, EPUB). If you chose to pay in installments, you’ll need to make the final payment at this stage. You’ll also have a two-week window to request a round of revisions at no extra cost.
